A price looks wrong
This is the most useful message you can send. Tell me the state, the fuel and the figure you are seeing, and what you actually paid or were quoted. Bear in mind that published prices are area averages and will differ from an individual delivery — a rural delivery, a contract lock-in or co-op membership can all move it several percent. But if a figure is out by more than that, something is genuinely broken and I want to know.
A fuel or state is missing
Coverage is limited by what the federal government actually surveys, not by choice. Heating oil is surveyed in 21 states, propane in 38. Where a reading does not exist, the page says so and shows a regional or national substitute, labelled. Wood pellets, cordwood and kerosene have no federal series at all, which is why the calculator asks you for a price instead of inventing one. If you know of a state-level source worth adding, please send it.

Journalists covering heating costs are welcome to use these figures, and I am happy to pull a specific state's numbers or explain the workings on deadline. State energy offices and consumer advice organisations are welcome to link to the relevant page. Please attribute the underlying EIA series; the methodology page lists each one with a direct link.
What I cannot help with
I cannot recommend an installer, quote for equipment, advise on a specific home's insulation, or tell you whether to sign a supply contract. This site compares running costs; the rest needs someone who can see your house.
